Fisher had to settle for a point after being held to a 1-1 draw by Kennington, to stay in third place in the SCEFL Preier Division table. With several players returning to the starting line up after missing the midweek cup defeat at Greenways, it was strong looking side that took the field, with the midfield bolstered by the return of Charles Yiadom-Konadu and Salim Nassor.
Fisher started the game hesitantly, and inside two minutes they afforded their visitors a great chance as a ball over the top bounced gratefully into the hands of Isaac Ogunseri, after just evading Kimsley Gatakata, as he ghosted into the area unchallenged. At the other end Fisher were struggling to get the final ball into the box to fall kindly, with Jacob Katonia on the right an early threat, with Mant having to save a flicked header from the winger after Salim Nassor had sent over a corner.
Ten minutes into the game Fisher found themselves a goal down. Failing to take an opportunity to clear the ball down the right flank allowed Kennington to pick up possession and deliver a sweeping cross into the box which deflected off an outstretched Fisher foot into the path of Sam Wright clipped it across the goal from Gatakata to apply the finishing touch from close range.
Fisher then spurned a good chance to get back on level terms almost straight away as Katonia’s deep cross found Courtney Barrington at the back of the box, but his effort on the volley, flew into the side netting. As the half wore on Fisher started to find some fluency in their play. Salim Nassor dragged an effort wide of the post when shooting from just outside the box and Charlie Yiadom-Konadu forced Mant into a fine save tipping his curling effort away. The resulting corner came to nothing as Fisher missed the pinpoint deliver of the absent Armani-Jordan Martin, and not for the first time in the game failed to bat the first defender with the dead ball delivery.
Five minutes into the second half, Fisher finally found a leveller. Courtney Barrington drifted in off the left flank and pushed the ball wide to Jake Lovell on the right. Lovell beat his marker for pace on the outside and sent in a low cross that was swept home form eight yards out by Kesna Clarke, for his seventh goal of the season.
Fisher pushed hard for a winner. Barrington, a constant threat, made a trademark jinking run down the left and twisted his marker inside and out before firing over at the near post. Joe Mant then only half saved from Nassor’s powerful strike, before an offside fag spared Katonia’s blushes as the rebound was put over the bar with the goal gaping.  Ange Djadja also saw a header from Gibbons free kick pass over the top of the goal. At the over end Kennington still posed a threat on the counter with the lively Rajan Sahni and Gatakata both causing problems. Sahni seeing an effort just fly wide of the upright.
Both sides pushed for a winner but found each other’s defences in solid form although Tome Scorer almost found the net when his shot from just inside the area looped off the bar. Fisher continued to press forward themselves and a Katonia broke free down the right but his low first time cross just beat Clarke’s arrival in the box and the ball flew across the area.
An entertaining second half ended without further score leaving the Fisher fans amongst the large Community Day crowd of 277 in mixed mood, both slightly frustrated at not finding a winner, but pleased to have come back from a goal down to at least secure a point. Fisher now have a two week la off form league football as next week the travel to Staplehurst for a Kent Senior Trophy second round fixture.
