Match Preview – Fisher v Sheppey United
On Tuesday evening the Fish welcome the Islanders from Sheppey back to St Paul’s for the second time this season, hoping for a better result than last time out in tonight’s Macron SCEFL Challenge Cup 2nd Round tie. The lights are back on at St Paul’s for floodlit football, with Gary and the team hoping to put worries in the league to one side and get a positive result in the Cup to kick start the season.
It was 1-3 to Sheppey when the two sides met in the league in September, Joseph Adesina drawing the Fish level in the first half after we conceeded in the opening minute. Sheppey took control of the game in the second period after Scott Wason saw red, wrapping the game up with two goals late on. Since that meeting the fortunes of the two sides could not have been more different. Whilst the Fish are languishing at the bottom of the Premier Division table, Sheppey sit one point behind leaders Ashford United in third. Sheppey have won 4 of their last 5 games, notching up 13 goals in the process.
Remell Davis scored the second Sheppey goal at St Paul’s earlier in the season and is the current top scorer for the visitors with eight in all competitions. Timmy Babbington was a constant threat down the right flank when we last met, and currently has 5 goals under his belt for the season.
Turnstiles will be open from around 6.30m this evening; please note that this evening’s game is not included in Season Tickets – normal ticket prices apply. The Clubhouse will be open for hot drinks (now with Hot Chocolate and Bovril), soup, noodles, soft drinks and snacks. Unfortunately due to a licensing issue there will not be any alcohol available either of the home games this week (Sheppey United & Ashford United), but the bar will be back in action in time for the Glebe fixture.
The Fisher Super Draw will be back with the chance to win £25, and our ever popular Matchday Programme will be available for £1.50. The Fisher Club Shop will be open in the Clubhouse with some exciting new ranges – including the the new Fisher Scarf for just £8 to ensure your neck is both warm and stylish this winter!
