Transfer News
A busy weekend of transfer activity over the weekend.
Firstly, following our Vase defeat we received a seven day notification from Whitstable Town over their intention to approach Sam Fitzgerald. The popular centre back has played 81 games for the Fish, scoring 4 goals since joining us in 2019 after the demise of Greenwich Borough. We allowed Sam to speak with the Oystermen immediately and he has agreed a deal to join them. Sam’s whole-hearted displays quickly won him favour with the Fisher faithful and he will be a welcomed visitor back at St Pauls along with his family whenever he returns. We wish him the best of luck at his new club.
In return we have agreed the transfer of Atta Gyedu, a verstaile midfielder from Whitstable Town and thank Marcel Nimani, the manager at Whitstable, for his help with this arrangement.
We have also moved to strengthen the squad following yet more injuries with the signing of several players. Ted McDonald, a goal keeper who played for Erith and Belvedere last season and has been in and around the squad here since pre-season signed on Saturday and yesterday we finalised the signing of exciting young winger Arty Benjamin who has been playing briefly for Tower Hamlets and Monserrat international, Lewis Duberry, who came through Shrewsbury Town’s academy programme and played last season at Witham Town. All players should be available for selection for Tuesday night’s League Cup game with Bermondsey Town.
