The Fish promoted!
Fish will play (Step 5) Premier Division football next season
SCEFL confirmed on friday that Fisher have been promoted back into the Premier Division after just one season in the First.
Despite finishing third on a shoestring budget the Fish will take their place in the Premiership along with K Sports and Punjab United.
It was expected that only two teams would go up from the First Division but because of the way the other divisions have been reshuffled – Sevenoaks and Whitstable promoted to Step 4, no club relegated from Step 4 and Rochester United relegated to Step 6 – this left the top three clubs in the First Division to fill the Step 5 places and bring the Premier Division up to 20 clubs.
It’s no secret that both Punjab United and K Sports have strong financial backing which helped them achieve the success they had last season. Fisher on the other hand played out our season on absolutely no budget at all – which makes the fact we are promoted all the more impressive.
It is also a testament to the skill and sacrifice of the management team, and grit and determination of the players that we got as far as we did.
As a fan-owned club all our money comes from you the supporters, and it’s you who will ultimately decide if we succeed in the Premier Division. Money is crucial – not only for building the squad and keeping our best players, but simply for the everyday needs of the team.
The 12th Man Fund is an essential part of keeping the club financially viable. All money donated to the 12th Man fund goes directly to the team. It’s your team, it’s your club, the lads played their hearts out last season to get us promoted – let them know they’re appreciated.
It’s really simple to donate to the 12th Man Fund – you can either give a one-off payment or set up a regular monthly debit, just follow the link and do your bit: http://www.fisherfc.org/2018/01/11/your-club-needs-you-support-the-12th-man-fund/
