Match preview: Holmesdale v Fisher
The Fish hit the ground running at the start of 2018 – first match of the new year was a hard fought 2-0 home win against mid-table neighbours Erith & Belvedere. The Christmas break didn’t seem to have unsettled the lads too much, although it took a while for them find their stride and take control resulting in two beautifully taken goals in the second half. And it’s that sort of finishing that’s needed today as we travel down to Bromley for our first away game of the year. We’ve already played Holmesdale earlier in the season which ended in a cumbersome 3-3 draw at St Paul’s. It was a ding-dong battle throughout – every time the Fish went ahead, Holmesdale fought back to equalise snatching a draw in the dying moments of the game. We can probably expect the same again today from the Dalers but it’s a more inspired, more coherent, more confident Fisher that will take to the field at Oakley Road – 9 unbroken league wins behind us and a real chance at going up to the premiership. Plus Fisher’s away record this season is exemplary. We’ve won seven and lost one and drew one – easily the best away record in the division, plus we have conceded the least amounts of goals away than any other club.
With those kind of stats all we need now is the Fisher Faithful to be in good voice and lift the team to another promotion winning victory.
