Match preview: Lydd Town v Fisher
Furthest away game of the season? Certainly one of the most isolated – Lydd are located on the windswept lowlands of the Kent coast by Dungeness headland (which is also home to Britain’s only desert!).
Lydd have had a couple impressive victories so far this season which sees them nestled up in fifth place, although only two points ahead of the Fish. Significantly they have played and lost one more game than the Fish, and their record at home isn’t that strong, beaten most recently 3-1 by K Sports.
The Fish go into this game on the back of a 6 game unbeaten run and if we win against the Lydders we will leapfrog over them into top table contention. Motivating factor enough to take the three points.
There is a renewed confidence about Fisher’s play at the moment, the tension and urgency that dogged the opening games has been replaced by a more dynamic and deliberate sense of purpose. The defence is coalescing around a solid formation which allows the attacking players a wider scope to be more inventive and challenging upfront. This is a Fisher side that looks like it means business.
If the Fisher faithful do make it down to Dungeness they should be in for a treat of a game.
