Match Preview – Fisher v Whitstable Town

Fisher will be looking to make it four games unbeaten this Saturday at home to former Ryman side Whitstable Town, who currently sit 12 places ahead of us in 8th. If results go our way this weekend there is an opportunity to climb off the bottom of the table for the first time in months, a sign of the great steps forward taken by Dean Harrison’s side over the past couple of months.

Since we last met in late October, a game which saw The Oystermen walk away 4-1 victors despite a Toyo Adeshina consolation goal, Scott Porter’s side have built a bit of momentum around their push to head straight back up. Whitstable have won their last five games on the bounce in the league, beating a number of our rivals around the basement of the SCEFL table, alongside progressing strongly in both the Kent Reliance Senior Trophy and the Macron SCEFL Challenge Cup.

Striker Kane Rowland is the clear goal threat, with 16 goals in all competitions this season. Defender Ashley Brown netted twice against Bearstead to bring his tally to 4 for the season, so must be watched coming forwards. The Fish should also have an eye on Whitstable’s poor discipline and possibly look to exploit this; midfielder Charlie Smith saw red after just 35 minutes last time out for two bookable offences, which was The Oystermen’s third red card in seven games.

Turnstiles will be open from around 1.45pm as usual on Tuesday for a 3pm kick off, and we hope to see another good crowd following the record breaking attendance at the Beckenham Town game over Christmas. The Club are delighted to confirm the extension of our ‘Fish for a Fiver’ offer for Premier League and Football League season ticket holders until the end of the 2016/17 campaign, so it is only £5 on the turnstile on production of a season ticket. The Clubhouse will be open for hot drinks (now with Hot Chocolate and Bovril), soup, noodles, soft drinks and snacks. Beers will come from local brewery Fourpure Brewing Co. as ever, alongside a few guest beers for the day.

The Fisher Super Draw will be back with the chance to win £25, and our ever popular Matchday Programme will be available for £1.50. The Fisher Club Shop will be open in the Clubhouse with our new Mugs and Enamel Badges, and the must have fashion accessory for a chilly Saturday afternoon – the Fisher Scarf!
