Match Preview – Fisher v Beckenham Town, The South London Derby
This year’s South London Derby couldn’t have much more riding on it. With both Fisher and Beckenham Town seeking a vital three points to kick start a run away from danger at the foot of the SCEFL Premier Division table this meeting with our ‘local’ rivals is a must win for new boss Dean Harrison. What better way to enjoy your extra Christmas day off than getting down to St Paul’s to Support Fan Owned Football.
Having taken a point off high flying AFC Croydon Athletic in our last home game the Fish are all set to build on stronger foundations to give ourselves the best shot at escaping trouble as we move into 2017. A win would move Fisher to within a point of the Becks, giving rise to another Deano inspired Escape to Victory!
The Becks sit just 4 points ahead of Fisher in the table in 19th place, with their last point coming on the road at Deal Town in October. Since that point Jason Huntley’s side have lost ten on the bounce in all competitions, including a 0-2 home defeat against Hollands & Blair last time out in the league.
In terms of danger men, there are a couple of familiar faces who have recently arrived at Beckenham Town who the Fish will need to be wary of. Jamie Taylor completed his move from Fisher last week, and was joined by Chan Quan from Croydon, who fans will remember turning out in black and white at Champion Hill last season. Tricky winger Amadu Warity has recently joined from Greenwich Borough, bringing some Ryman level experience to the Becks.
With the majority of Premier League and Football League sides playing on Boxing Day, we are delighted to announce the return of the hugely popular ‘Fish for a Fiver’ promotion for any League Season Ticket Holders who want to come and spend their Tuesday afternoon enjoying the best of non-league football.
